Pastoral Reference
A credentialed minister with the AG (Youth Pastor or Other Pastor at their church) will review the list of counselors/staff to provide assurance that each volunteer attending with their church has passed a pastoral reference locally at their church since each of you locally vet your leaders already we require that if any leader matches the following categories:
Counselor/Staff is not qualified to be in this role & should be REMOVED
Counselor/Staff is qualified but you have some specifics growth areas or things for the District team to be aware of.
IF YES to the ABOVE ^^^
You would reach out to the MSM District Youth Camp team TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO YOUR CAMP SESSION via email to NOTIFY US at youthcamp@mnaog.org.
Some pastoral reference questions required include:
Do you know the applicant to be free from the use of tobacco, alcohol, or other drugs?
Can you vouch for the moral integrity of this applicant?
Does the applicant have spiritual maturity to pray with youth for the filling of the Holy Spirit?
Does the applicant have adequate spiritual and emotional maturity necessary for counseling and praying with youth regarding the various problems that may be presented to him/her by the youth?
Are you personally acquainted with the applicant and in my opinion declare that he/she is competent and qualified to work with minors? Having no knowledge of facts or allegations that raise any question concerning his/her suitability and trustworthiness for working with minors?
Youth Camp Checks
As a church feel free to work alongside your financial person to see what would work best for your internal process:
Send a check to the District office before your camp week
Bring a check with you to camp and turn in at check-in/camp office
Send a check to the District Office after your camp week
